NAMASTE! WELCOME!

I was born in India, in the state of Kerala and had hardly crossed adolescence when I arrived in Switzerland. After studying Theology at the University of Bern I became a priest and a while later a Swiss citizen. The years went by but I could not forget My-India, could not forget its incomparable cuisine, its luxurious lodgings, its streets, its hospitality, its readiness to serve, its God seekers. I met folks who wanted to travel with me to India because India needs explaining.

My-India was born. My-India – the travel company for the discerning individualist.

“For those that have been in India not just with the eyes but with the soul, for them it remains a land of longing of which one is reminded by the slightest of signs.”.
Hermann Hesse

Many years have gone by since I left my first home. It was a journey into the unknown. I was twenty, inexperienced und full of expectations and faced the challenge of discovering fulfilment in a new cultural context. The new was exciting but the old remained etched into my heart and mind. An inexplicable longing for India awoke deep in me and I discovered that I had bought more along than the small suitcase that I held in my hand when I arrived in the west. The heart stores and carts infinitely much more around than one could ever imagine. There was no way to suppress the yearning to return to what I had left behind.

Some years later came this unexpected question: Could you not accompany us to India? You are a traveller between two worlds, at home in India and in Europe. You speak Hindi, Malayalam, English, German and Swiss German – the perfect guide. A totally new perspective opened up for me. I organised my first tours way back in 1986 and at the end of each one of them I heard the same conclusions: Travels through India fulfil and enrich and makes one ask the questions that really matter. What else could one expect after an encounter with one of the oldest civilisations on the face of this earth, after an encounter of the Indian Kind? India - a world of amazing fusion – a fantastic destination. Recently the CEO of Kuoni Travels was asked in an interview: “Is there any place on this globe that still fascinates you. You certainly have been everywhere?” And Mr. Armin Meier answered: “India. One place you cannot travel often enough to”. (Magazin Mai 2007) I fully agree!

In 2001 I made what was first a hobby into my profession and founded the travel agency My-India together with my wife Mette, who is a Dane and a fashion designer by profession. www.c-p-h.ch
